MRTT Family Gathers For Sixth Amug Conference
A new edition of the AMUG (Airbus MRTT Users Group) annual conference took place on 21-23 November 2016 in Getafe (Madrid, Spain). The 3-day event gathered more than 100 participants from across the world, including A330 and A310 MRTT operators and customers.
At the outset, the AMUG was launched as forum where industry and operators shared information and solutions concerning the MRTT in service fleet once a year. Nowadays, it has developed into a continuous exchange all year round, fostering collaboration and sharing best practices and operational excellence. In order to achieve these goals, four Working Groups have been created, covering issues ranging from logistics & maintainability to capability upgrades.
Fernando Alonso, Head of Military Aircraft, highlighted the engagement between Airbus DS and MRTT clients: “The A330 MRTT is without doubt the world's preferred tanker, and I believe that by working in this way, with our customers at the centre, we will ensure it keeps its leading position for many years to come”. He also welcomed the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA), responsible for managing the Follow-on Support and Operations Support Phase of the Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF), led by the Netherlands, as the new customer joining the A330 MRTT User Group that also includes Australia, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, France and Korea.
In accordance with the 2016 AMUG motto “The best way to predict your future is to create it”, a comprehensive set of activities have been established together with our customers and operators. At the core of that program is the definition of Block Upgrades for the evolution of the MRTT fleet.
