An Airbus C295W aircraft belonging to the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) has begun a tour that will allow it to demonstrate its capabilities in various Latin American countries. The aircraft, which is operated by a mixed crew from Airbus Defence and Space and SEMAR, will travel the length of the continent from north to south.

The tour will expose the C295W to the region’s diverse and extreme weather conditions and terrain, demonstrating not only its robustness and reliability but also its versatility - characteristics which have seen it become the market leader in its segment. C295W is the Trusted Partner for Medium Airlift and leader in its category: 163 C295 sold to 23 military operators (11 of them with repeat orders).

C295W landed at El Alto International Airport, more than 4,000m above sea level, and also performed flights to the Cochabamba base and the unprepared runway of San Borja.

C295W carried out demonstration flights in El Alto, La Paz, Bolivia, one of the airports with the most extreme hot and high conditions in the world.

21-26 November 2015
The aircraft landed at the International Airport of Santiago de Chile as part of its tour of the region, and is currently performing several demo flights. Chile is one of the main operators of Airbus Defence and Space military transport aircraft in the region, with a fleet of 12 aircraft, including three C295s in the anti-submarine warfare role.

C295W flew from Río Gallegos Airport in Argentina to the Marambio Base, the first flight ever by a C295 to Antarctica.
The C295W landed in Marambio at 11.45 on 27 November, returning to Río Gallegos nearly eight hours later. The Argentinian Marambio Base, in the Seymour Island in the North of Antarctica, frequently suffers temperatures below -30ºC with extremely strong winds.  The flight was further proof of the outstanding versatility of the C295W, which in recent weeks has been subjected to the most diverse weather conditions.

 


C295W in Buenos Aires28 November - 2 December 2015
During these days the aircraft performed demonstrations in different locations in Argentina. The evaluation included participation of several members of the Argentine Armed Forces.






C295W in Paraguay3- 5 December 2015
Next stop of the tour: Paraguay. Demonstrations of C295W were made in Asuncion, Paraguay, together with the Paraguayan Air Force.







C295W in Panama7- 9 December 2015
C295W landed in Panama on the next leg of its tour of Latin America. Panama has a fleet of three Airbus Defence and Space military transport aircraft.
Following the aircraft’s stay in Panama, the tour will shortly conclude in Mexico.





C295W in Mexico10 December 2015
C295W came back to Mexico completing a month-long tour through Latin America demonstrating the aircraft’s extensive capabilities. Mexico, with 24 aircraft – including the new C295W – is the largest operator of Airbus Defence and Space military transport aircraft in Latin America, followed by Colombia and Brazil, with 18 and 12 aircraft respectively.
